SME Club SDG6 and Open Day of the European Institutions

The Probig Team visits Brussels and meets Horst Heitz, also a member of the European SME Union. On Open Day they are lucky enough to gain insight into the European Parliament with Paul Rübig, currently still Member of the European Parliament, as an accompaniment.

CEO Augustin Perner takes his team to Brussels and offers his employees an opportunity to learn more about the Working Group SDG6 which stands for and deals with Sustainable Development Goals for water – a very relevant topic for Probig as the business specializes in waste-water treatment. At the SME Club’s office which is located in the centre of Brussels, the team meets Horst Heitz, Member of the European SME Union, via a conference call who informs the group about SMEs in general, their role and aims in European politics, and current topics and events such as the upcoming European elections on May 23-26. As a follow up, Augustin Perner brings the concerns and relevance of his Working Groups SDG6 closer and connects politics, SMEs, and his passion for water to give a clear picture of the purpose and intentions of this Working Group which is fighting for clean water as a human right worldwide.

Touring through the European Parliament

May 4 was Open Day of the European Institutions and offered the Probig Team the perfect opportunity to gain insight into where European politics take place. With Paul Rübig, Austrian Member of Parliament from 1996 to 2019, leading the team, the highlight of the morning was seeing and being in the plenary hall. Multilingual guides gave very interesting and informative speeches about the roles and procedures of plenary meetings as well as of the simultaneous translating that occurs in up to 24 languages. On the way out the parliament offered many fun games and freebies for its visitors as a means of motivating everyone to vote at the upcoming elections.

The House of European History

Having left the Parliament building, a walk through the magnificent and green Leopold Park led the team to The House of European History. There a wander through the 6 stories of the classy museum provided “a trans-European viewpoint that explores the historical memories, diverse experiences and common ground of the peoples of Europe and how these relate to present day” (www.historia-europa.ep.eu). Be it fashion, the younger generation, currency, technology, or war stories – there was something interesting in it for everyone.
