Protective masks for the containment of the Covid19 pandemic

Vöcklamarkt, May 18, 2020

Contributing to the containment of the Covid-19 pandemic, the environmental technology company Probig (Vöcklamarkt) does it stint by offering new quality protective masks.

All steps in the process of the product development – from the first idea to the corresponding prototype – were realized in cooperation with project partner Katzengruber Kunststofftechnik (Dimbach). The high-quality protective masks contribute significantly to an improved supply in class FFP2. A further version for category FFP3 is currently being planned.

The masks, which are currently in the patent application process, not only combine protection with pleasant wearing comfort, they are also reusable and recyclable. With the protective masks, which will soon be certified with the Made in Austria label, Probig takes an essential step towards Austria's independence from global suppliers and given supply problems. Probig is a global specialist in injection moulding technology and a world-renowned expert for sustainable solutions in water and wastewater technology.

Development and production in Austria

"Events in the past few weeks have proven that Austria must be able to act quickly and independently of problems the global market is facing, especially in the medical sector”, emphasises Augustin Perner, managing partner of Probig. "Regarding the pandemic, the partly poor quality of masks from China, political intervention by other countries along the supply chain and long delivery times call for high-quality regional solutions. We have the experience, the necessary machinery and the material: We are bringing our expertise back to Austria to create future security".

The protective masks are produced in Katzengruber's injection moulding machine directly on site. Thus, certified product quality, best possible delivery readiness and a high degree of sustainability are maintained: Each protective mask is reusable as well as 100% recyclable.

Consisting of a housing, removable lamella filter, fleece and elastic band, the masks offer an optimal combination of function for the highest demands and pleasant wearing comfort. The outer shell made of thermoplastic polymer can easily be cleaned or sterilized several times. The patent application has already been filed and the certification process is in the final phase.

The product is qualified for the use in the medical field and will meet the requirements of protection class FFP2 and will additionally be available in category FFP3 in the foreseeable future. Since May a further improvement in the supply of medical personnel but also in many other sensitive areas such as care, schools, authorities, catering etc. can be guaranteed with high-quality and safe protective masks.

Since May the protective masks are available in the new PRO SDG Market on prosdg-market.com and directly at the company website (www.probig.com). PRO SDG Market is an online platform that supports companies with products and services to achieve the 17 "Sustainable Development Goals" (SDG) for more sustainability in the world.
